In what appears to be a disconcerting news for the Thalapathy Vijay starring 'Mersal' team and millions of fans worldwide, the Chennai High Court has slammed an interim ban on the usage of the word 'Mersal' to advertise the film.

The ban ordered by the High Court comes in the backdrop of a case filed by Producer Rajendran in 2014, who alleged the makers of 'Mersal' to have lifted the title from a film song.

The state's apex court has directed to not use the word 'Mersal' for promotional purposes until October 3. The news comes as a disappointment for fans as just 'Mersal' teaser crossed 10 million mark today.

However, the 'Mersal' makers have sought the court to dismiss the imposed ban keeping in mind the exorbitant amount of money that has gone into the production.
