What is it all about?

Entertainment with no strings attached.. Chennai Express is a steady always ready for fun entertainer which gives your worries a `po' for those 142 minutes.. paisa vasool..

UTV, Red Chilies, SRK and Rohit Shetty live up to the hype and give a massy hard core entertainer as ordered by Rohit Shetty school of films which only purpose is to entertain and de stress the audience..

A perfect popcorn film lightweight, low in those artistic cinematic nutrients but remarkably satisfying as a hard core entertainer..

The Story

We have had Imtiaz Ali version of Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayeinge in Jab We Met.. Chennai Express is Rohit Shetty version of DDLJ soaked in complete Rohit Shetty ishtyle where Yunus Sajawal and Robin Bhatt introduce us to Rahul (SRK) a 40 year old single ready to mingle but doesn,t get time due to his personal commitments.. one day he embarks on a journey to a town in Tamil Nadu to fulfill the last wish of his grandfather to have his ashes immersed in Rameshwaram. During the journey he meets a South Indian girl, Meena (Deepika Padukone), who wants to flee from the clutches of her father (Sathyaraj) , who wants her to get married to a person she doesn't love (Nikitin Dheer). Series of adventure then follows filled with fun, masti, romance..

What to look out for

An entertainer right from the word go which refuses to go.. Chennai Express again proves that Rohit Shetty is a diehard bollywood lover.. and a filmmaker who understands the pulse of his audience and the image of his lead actor and moulds it so well with his script that the characters in his movie look tailor made for that role.. he makes SRK and Deepika such a delightful, ordinary-extraordinary pair. Their sequences are hilarious and thanks to the writers Yunus Sajawal and Robin Bhatt who show great consistency in providing moments of fun, drama, action, romance from time to time as prescribed by the genre..superb job.

King Khan Shah Rukh Khan is in terrific form here.. his fans will have a great time watching SRK at his best and even improvising himself.. a terrifically entertaining performance.

The year 2013 seems to be named after Deepika Padukone who shows such tremendous confidence in her role as Meena.. the actress is outstanding simply brilliant.. her accent, her look, her poise everything is so effortless.. Deepika does complete justice to her role and walks with all the flying colours..Absolutely marvelous performance.

Sathyaraj is fantastic. Nikitin Dheer is good. Good to see the veteran Kamini Kaushal as SRK's grandmother..

Technically the movie is shot brilliantly by Dudley who makes the movie look like post cards from south.

Vishal-Shekhar's soundtrack is in color of the film and sounds good. Titli is melodious, 1234 is peppy. The lungi dance .. tribute to Rajinikanth is also foot tapping.

What not

It doesn,t dares to be different

Conclusion: Chennai Express has all that an entertainment hungry soul of bollywood needs this festive weekend season of Eid.. A kick -  ass entertainer which is consistently funny where superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone giving their best along with Rohit Shetty whose name is now synonymous with entertainment.. Chennai Express is a terrifically satisfying joy ride.. if you love bollywood and its masala curry.. hurry.. you won,t be disappointed..
