Chennai Express creates a new landmark collects 156 crore in a week

SRK, UTV and Rohit Shetty has inaugurated Bollywood new landmark for superstar projects..will bollywood mega projects will now have a benchmark of 150 crores instead of 100 crores..

King Khan Shahrukh Khan Chennai Express record collections in its first week is seriously asking this question now.. is the so called 100 crore club is for beginners, stars and not superstars who now have a new upgraded scale of 150 crores to prove their mettle at Box Office..

Earning 156.70 crores in its 8 day weekend starting from last Thursday Chennai Express is on a record breaking spree starting with the highest paid preview collections (6.18 cr) beating 3 Idiots (2.75 cr), followed by biggest 1st day ever (33.12 crores) beating Ek Tha Tiger (30.72 cr), Highest second day (28.05) beating RA.One (22.89 cr), highest day three (32.5) beating YJHD(22.44 cr), fastest 100 crore, and now the biggest first week with 156.70 crore (8 days) beating Ek Tha Tiger (140 crore in 9 days)..

The movie is unstoppable at the box office .. its 8th day collection is 19.60 crores more than the first day of Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara which reportedly has fetched a handsome 15+ crore at domestic box office..

A veteran trade analyst on condition of anonymity shares, for superstars like SRK, Salman, Aamir 100 crore should be nothing its peanuts considering the growing ticket prices, aggressive release strategy and multiple screenings in multiplexes all over.. a good opening is guaranteed.. rest depends upon the content.. for example Ajay Devgn’s Himmatwala opened to a whooping 14 crore on Friday in spite of negative reports.. later it dropped considerably cause the content was a the main spoiler, he concludes.

So mega projects with superstars driven by content should now aim at 150 crore net for its first week..

All eyes are now on Krrish 3 coming on Diwali this year and Dhoom 3 this Christmas.. and of course Salman Khan Kick by Eid next year.. it will be interesting to see how ready they are in accepting the new 150 crore week benchmark set by SRK..
