Chellame

Heroine oriented movies are a rarity. GJ combines next film `Chellamay' directed by Ar Gandhi Krishna, the director of the arty film `Nila Kalam', has actress Reema Sen in a pivotal role. The lineup of technicians behind the project is very impressive. National award winner cinematographer K V Anand, writer Sujatha, music director Harris Jayraj, lyricist Vairamuthu are those associated with Chellamay produced by V Gnanavel and V Jayaprakash who earlier produced Julie Ganapathy directed by Balu Mahendra. It marked the re entry of Saritha.

The subject probes the life of three youngsters. Reema is married to Vishal (debutante and son of producer G K Reddy). They start life in a rented apartment. The cosy twosome has a visitor Bharat. Bharat is a childhood friend of Reema. He is taken in as a paying guest. Bharat has a massive crush on his childhood friend. The crush was limited to the fantasies that he had in his dreams but now he wants to make his dream come true. The songs shot in Andaman Islands is a hit. Reema's sizzling scenes and intimate love scenes have created a big hype among the youth. Says Reema "The subject was so powerful that I accepted it even though the hero is rank newcomer". Vishal a Loyola College student of VISCOM is too banking on this film to do the trick."Like Vijay and Surya who are from Loyola, I too hope to succeed" hoped Vishal. Also in the cast is Vivek. Gandhikrishna. Associate to Shankar made his debut with `Engineer' who had Aravind Swamy and Madhuri Dixit (her first film down south) in the lead. It had music by A R Rahman. Unfortunately it got shelved and for eight long years he struggled to get a proper break. "Chellamay is heroine centric. All my struggles are over. I was lucky to get the best talents agree to work with me. Producers support in making this film the way I wanted to create is the biggest assets" feels Gandhikrishna.

Reema Sen who plays the pivotal role was very excited. Speaking about the film, she says,"I have a meaty role with enough scope for me to perform. I must thank the director Gandhi Krishna and the producers for having the confidence in me and casting me in the role".
