The trailer of the Mani Ratnam multistarrer 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' that arrived today has become a much debated topic as the master craftsman has teased a saga of crime and violence and sibling rivalry with more than one underlying emotions playing out.
The core question of 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' is which of the three sons of the mafia don Senapathy (Prakash Raj) would ascend the throne after him. Or will it be the outsider Rasool (Vijay Sethupathi) a cop who even his colleagues beleive covets that position. Since Aravind Swamy is the self proclaimed heir apparent and understimates his brothers are not interested in a life of crime. But his brother Thyagu (Arun Vijay) has clear ambitions as he sits on his father's chair and asks his sistern in law (Jyothika) not to tell Varadan. His wife Renu (Aishwarya Rajesh) reveals that there is a very ruthless side to him eventhough he appears loving and kind.
The 'Chekka Chevantha Vaanam' trailer then shows Ethi (Simbu) the youngest who in the next few shots dominates the show and there is a confrontation between him and Aravind Swamy. The same shot reveals that Arun Vijay's Thyagu is slyly enjoying the open war between his siblings as he could capitalise on it.
The Vijay Sethupathi character Rasool the outsider is obviously the friend of Aravind Swamy but the few cuts show that he too is after the throne and Varadan even insults him as a traitor indirectly speaking to another cop. So from all these vignettes that we have from 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' it is clear that the war is between the brashness of Aravind Swamy, the slyness Arun Vijay, the ambition of Simbu and the calculated moves of Vijay Sethupathi to become Senapathi.
Who of the four achieve their goals will be known when Mani Ratnam's 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' hits the screens of September 28th.
