Every once in a while a movie comes which creates a storm in Kollywood. Most of them are Mani Ratnam’s. No wonder fans are feverishly waiting for the big day tomorrow- ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ will officially set the screens on fire.
Join us as we ponder on reasons why one shouldn’t miss this movie at any cost. If you did, it’d be a severe crime on a movie buff’s diary.
1. A captain worthy of our adoration
While the name is reason enough, we still acknowledge the vast number of loyalists that director Mani Ratnam has garnered for himself. One key element is his ability to create stories that greatly relate to a younger audience. Last we saw the director in a romantic outing, but this time ‘CCV’ trailers have shown us that it is going to be a tale of blood, tact, and power. And we’re all the more excited!
2. The light is brighter when the stars are many
Casting is one of the biggest highlights of the film. Ever remember such a contemporary star-studded casting for the movie? Exactly. This is the first time such a casting has been pulled off with leading names Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy and Arun Vijay. And it would be intriguing to watch how the director has treated the characters. The promotions for the film have done a better job at making us familiar with the characters so we needn’t feel bombarded at the theatre. And who are you rooting for?
3. Grand things need grand openings
Needless to say, ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ has garnered a never-before-seen opening sensation out of all Mani Ratnam movies. With the film set to open up the celebrations with early morning shows, no wonder it’s going to be a gala moment for all fans. This sky-rocketing sensation that the film has created demands a celebratory opening, agree? And hope you have your tickets for tomorrow, because let’s be honest, BO is firing with bookings.
4. Music is his magic
AR Rahman and Mani Ratnam are like the two sides of a coin. It is very difficult to talk of just one person without thinking about the other. Such has been the effects of their collaboration. Bringing out examples for this is a very redundant as they have created some of the iconic albums in the industry. And Add in Vairamuthu’s lines too- you’ll get a wild concoction of delightful and magical music. Which is your favorite in the album?
5. He doesn't let your eyes wander
Santhosh Sivan is the most awarded Director of Photography in the country. ‘Thalapthy’, ‘Roja’, ‘Iruvar’... need we say anymore. And going by the trailers, we can only imagine the quality of the photography to exceed our expectations. And ‘CCV’ might well join the band of films that often get referenced in film institutes.
6. Fight the battle, but with style
If it is one thing that impressed us at first sight, is the way the lead actors are stylised. And we can’t help but notice how easily their looks corresponds to the character. Be it Arvind Swamy’s rugged makeover, or Vijay Sethupathi’s classic neat look. But we well know it’s tough to choose between STR’s bad boy or the dapper looking thug in Arun Vijay.
7. Surprises might come out of anywhere
If the announcement of male leads in the movie created much sensation, let us not be fooled how the female characters have been underplayed in the trailers. With four ladies in the casting namely Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Dayana Erappa, and Aishwarya Rajesh- sure there is enough reason to believe their roles would be important if not loud. Fingers crossed!
8. Finally, who's cookin' it?
Lyca Productions has joined hands with Madras Talkies to produce ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’. In order to get an idea why this is an important point to consider, we just have to look at the portfolio of Lyca here. Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’, Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’. Okay, we’ll stop with just that two, enough to make us anticipate ‘CCV’.
