Fashion designer Sindhu from Kerala has come out with an interesting saree that narrates several tales on how the public and officials are together battling the COVID-19 pandemic. The designer has drawn as many as 20 pictures on the 9.5 metres long specially woven saree.
Starting with the image of the coronavirus infected people travelling from the market in Wuhan, China to three different parts of the world via flight, the saree shows how the deadly virus made its way to India. The Gateway of India is also seen in one of the pictures.
The saree art includes several instances such as quarantined son watching father's funeral through video call, blocking off the road at Kerala-Karnataka border to the heart-melting gesture of passengers offering biscuits to tired police officers. The highlight of the saree is the final picture of a mother wearing a mask and gloves carrying the earth in her womb.
We also see mask, sanitizer, hand wash, and awareness messages on the saree that will be displayed at Thrissur Lalitha Kala Akademi later. It took nearly 2 months to complete the saree. Sindhu says that she wishes to sell the pictorial saree and contribute the amount to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).
