In times like these, if you can manage to move from one town to another without hiccups, it has to be considered an achievement. What if we told you that a group of folks have successfully ensured the transport of a donor lung from a brain dead person in Pune to a private hospital in Secunderabad during the pandemic?
It happened on Sunday. The donor lung was used to pull off a lung transplantation on a terminally-ill patient at Krishna Institute of Medical Services (KIMS).
This was facilitated by a dedicated team facilitating the Jeevandan organ donation initiative of Telangana and Pune's Zonal Transport Coordination Centre.
How was it done?
The services of a chartered flight were pressed into action for the noble purpose. A green corridor was created by the traffic police of the two aforementioned cities to ensure the success of the mission.
Thanks to the perfect planning, the mission stood accomplished within an hour.
