Charlie Puth's 'Attention' is Quite Special...Here's Why
- IndiaGlitz, [Monday,July 17 2017]
Charlie Puth released his song Attention' earlier this year and god we just have to talk about the specialty about this particular track.
Not only is the song a personal story of the songster but it also happens to have 2 platinum certifications and 3 in gold. That's an amazing record for an upcoming singer who is about to get established.
Of course, his previous hits were just as fantastic, but there's this sort of pain behind the context of Attention that makes it sad yet sexy at the same time.
The song's lyrics:
“You've been runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round, runnin' 'round throwin' that dirt all on my name
'Cause you knew that I, knew that I, knew that I'd call you up
You've been going 'round, going 'round, going 'round every party in LA
'Cause you knew that I, knew that I, knew that I'd be at one, oh
I know that dress is karma, perfume regret
You got me thinking 'bout when you were mine, oh
And now I'm all up on ya, what you expect?
But you're not coming home with me tonight
You just want attention
You don't want my heart
Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone new
Yeah, you just want attention
I knew from the start
You're just making sure I'm never gettin' over you, oh…”
He's writing about someone who broke up with him. He's trying to move on but she keeps coming back as she is the narcissistic type. He seems to understand that and calls her an attention seeker.
He explains the twisted games the female lead in his story, played with him and how he endured all of that because he still was in love with her. He wants her but he hates her at the same time.
A transcending extraterrestrial feeling engulfs you as you lose yourself in the vocals of Charlie's. Not only are his vocals singing but they are voicing the meaning behind each and every single letter, giving the exact context of a situation.
A song so good, it makes you want to miss an ex you don't have and so sexy that it makes you groove.
A weird, strange and an erotic mix of pop with romance which never happened before, holds you back and just lose yourself in this ocean of bliss and pain at the same time.
You not only listen to the rhythm of the music, you can also feel it.
Of course, there are other artists that depict the idea of romance in their music, it just didn't seem so real in their music. But in Attention, you can hear the sexual frustration, the wanting, the hatred, the love, the pain, the annoying strings at heart that keep pulling at your heart, which is not just for your ears but perhaps for your soul.
A song that people didn't know they wanted until they happen to stumble upon it.
The official music video happens to have a 243.6 Million views in just 2 months.
Which is an average of 4 Million views a day forth its release, which explains why I'm putting so much stress on this song.
This song makes you feel things, it makes your heart cry, it builds a frustration which is what the singer wants to express. The lyrics adapt perfectly well with the tune.
Here comes my favorite part
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh? (What are you doin'?)
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh? (What are you doin'?)
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh? (What are you doin'?)
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh?
It's like he is confronting her, he gets sad yet he sings that so…so…in an indescribable way that one only understands when they listen to it.
I know that dress is karma, perfume regret
You got me thinking 'bout when you were mine
And now I'm all up on ya, what you expect?
But you're not coming home with me tonight
You just want attention
You don't want my heart
Maybe you just hate the thought of me with someone new
Yeah, you just want attention
I knew from the start
You're just making sure I'm never gettin' over you, over you
What are you doin' to me? (hey)
What are you doin', huh? (what are you doin', what?)
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh? (yeah, you just want attention)
What are you doin' to me? (I knew from the start)
What are you doin', huh?
(You're just making sure I'm never gettin' over you)
What are you doin' to me?
What are you doin', huh?...
Perhaps, the singer is indirectly questioning the real intentions of the narcissistic female lead, yet she remains a mystery to him. He just wants to have a simple love story and a happy romance, while the female lead's emotional extortion drains him out and he finally submits to the words This is Karma'.
The listener will definitely feel what the singer is trying to express and the tune will get stuck in your mind. This is what makes this song so special.
There were many songs out there that stayed and left, but this song really stays and perhaps never leaves (from your mind).
It is an attention-grabbing song, of course!
