A private school in Hebbal, Bengaluru, has ignited controversy after including a lesson on actress Tamannaah Bhatia in its 7th-grade textbook, as part of a chapter on the Sindhi community. The lesson, appearing in a section titled "Life of Indian People after the Partition of Sindh," has drawn fierce criticism from parents who deem it irrelevant and inappropriate.
Parents have voiced their disapproval, arguing that the inclusion of Tamannaah Bhatia in a textbook intended for young children is both irrelevant to the subject matter and potentially harmful. They express concern that mentioning the actress could lead students to seek out inappropriate content online, especially considering some of her films may be unsuitable for their age group.
The Associated Managements of English Medium Schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has taken cognizance of the complaints and initiated an investigation. They have contacted both the school and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to address the issue. The school authorities have declined to comment on the matter.
Shashikumar D, General Secretary of KAMS, emphasized the concerns raised by parents, stating, "Including a lesson on Tamannaah Bhatia raises concerns as some of her films may not be suitable for young children. This could lead them to inappropriate content. Moreover, there are countless other relevant and inspiring achievements and figures within the Sindhi community that deserve to be highlighted."
It is known that Tamannaah shot to fame romancing top stars in the country and she is now the most sought after heroine. She is now starring in Vedaa, Odela 2 and Stree 2.
The controversy has sparked debate on the appropriateness of including popular figures in school textbooks, particularly when the content might not align with the intended age group or curriculum. It remains to be seen how the school and authorities will address the concerns raised by parents and the wider community.
