Bromance Goals: Channing Tatum Thanks Ryan Reynolds for Reviving His Gambit Role

Recently, Channing Tatum posted two pictures of himself with Ryan Reynolds at San Diego Comic-Con on Instagram—one from ten years ago and one from last weekend. Tatum thought back to being in the audience when Reynolds debuted Deadpool.

Tatum recalled, I hurried backstage right after and hugged him, saying, 'Holy shit, you did it man.' It's ideal. Though I didn't truly know him back then, Ryan has had my back more than practically anyone in my field.

Originally intended to play Gambit in a stand-alone movie before Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox resulted in its cancellation, Tatum made a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine with Reynolds repeating the character's role.

I assumed I had lost Gambit permanently, Tatum said. Ryan, though, battled for Gambit and me. I owe him most definitely always. How I could possibly ever pay back what this has meant to me is unknown. I am loving your friend. Shawn Levy is also. Such a superb producer on many fronts. All things happen for a reason. Having been in this film makes me very appreciative. I consider it to be a masterwork and simply pure, amazing delight. In the theater, I was yelling literally. LFG!!

Later on, Reynolds posted Tatum's Instagram Story complimenting him as a once-in- a-generation talent and a really decent man.

I understand what it feels like to bring a character into existence, Reynolds said. Chan did that and put the most vivid version of that character on screen like he was born to perform this one guy.

He also made jokes about Tatum sporting the same shirt to both Comic-Cons: We have shared two San Diego Comic-Cons. Two of the greatest days of my life occurred while @Channing Tatum was wearing this shirt. Conspiracy or coincidental?
