Chandrayaan 2 is India’s second lunar mission which is set to be executed coming October-November of this year. Ever wondered how much does the mission cost? According to ISRO’s chairman K Sivan, the total cost of the mission would be a whopping Rs.800 crore.
Rs.200 crore has been allocated for the launch while Rs.600 crore is for the satellite itself. It is also said that the cost of the mission is so low that any other country would have taken double the cost to do a similar mission, according to Jitendra Singh who is the Union Minister of state for Atomic Energy and Space.
It should also be noted that Chandrayaan 2 weighs at 3,250kg and is much more advanced than its earlier version.It is also worth mentioning here that the country’s first lunar mission Chandrayaan 1 was also appreciated for costing just a fraction of what other countries would have spent on a similar mission.
