An RTI query has revealed that the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, which took place in May, saw something like Rs. 43 lakhs spent on the hospitality and stay of AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, Rajasthan Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, BSP supremo Mayawati and also new politician Kamal Haasan, among others, in Bengaluru!
It took just two days for the Janata Dal (Secular) party to let the state hospitality department splurge Rs. 43 lakhs on the hospitality of these valued guests.
The AP CM ran a bill of Rs 8.3 lakh. This has come as a shocking revelation. Just on hospitality. Rs. 8.3 lakh?! He was the most expensive guest, second to none.
Arvind Kejriwal ran a bill of Rs 1,85,188 and Mayawati another Rs 1,41,443. Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan, who is a Mahatma Gandhi fan, ran a bill of Rs 1,02,040. Akhilesh Yadav another Rs 1,02,400. For two days. Just on hospitality!
A whopping Rs 4,35,001 was spent on the tea and snacks buffet hosted at the Vidhana Soudha. The ceremony was catered by Taj West End hotel.
