Chandra Mohan breathes his last, leaves Tollywood in tears

Chandra Mohan, the beloved actor of yesteryears, passed away this morning, leaving the entire Tollywood community in deep sorrow. Chandra Mohan breathed his last at 09:45 am today at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad, after a long battle with heart-related issues. He was 82 years old at the time of his passing and is survived by his loving wife, Jalandhara, and their two daughters.

His final rites are scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on Monday. Condolences have been pouring in from all corners, and celebrities are expressing their profound shock and grief over the sudden demise of Chandra Mohan.

Born as Mallampalli Chandrasekhara Rao on May 23, 1943, in Pamidimukkala village in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Mohan had his early education at Y.V.R.M.Z.P. High School in Meduru. He pursued his graduation from the agriculture college of Bapatla. Chandra Mohan had a brother named Chinnayya and an elder sister named Satyavathi. Notably, he was the cousin of the renowned filmmaker K. Viswanath.

Chandra Mohan made his mark in the Telugu film industry with his debut in the film Rangula Ratnam in 1966. In 1968, his role as the caring brother of Vanisri in Sukha Duhkalu earned him accolades and awards. Throughout his illustrious career, he received numerous honors, including one Filmfare Award South and two Nandi Awards. Some of his notable performances in box office hits include Rangula Ratnam (1966), which earned him the prestigious state Nandi Award for Best Actor, Padaharella Vayasu (1978), where he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu), and Siri Siri Muvva (1978). Chandra Mohan even ventured into Tamil cinema with Naalai Namadhe (1975). He graced the silver screen as the lead actor in several memorable films such as Seetamalakshmi (1978), Ram Robert Rahim (1980), Radha Kalyanam (1981), Rendu Rellu Aaru (1986), and Chandamama Raave (1987).

Chandra Mohan was not only a versatile actor but also a hero who had the unique ability to make heroines shine, as many of the actresses he worked with went on to become top stars in both Tollywood and Bollywood.
