Chandra Babu springs surprise: Reveals his Cabinet Ministers before Swearing In

  • IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,June 12 2024]

Upon returning from Delhi after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, N Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister-designate and leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has been busy finalizing the composition of his Cabinet ahead of the official swearing-in ceremony on June 12th. The event is scheduled to take place at 11:27 am near Kesarapalli IT Park, on the outskirts of Vijayawada.

Key Appointments and Attendees

Naidu's Cabinet is expected to include Jana Sena Party (JSP) president Konidela Pawan Kalyan, TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh, and 22 MLAs. Pawan Kalyan is reportedly in line to take oath as Deputy Chief Minister, indicating a significant role for the actor-turned-politician in the new government. The oath-taking ceremony will be graced by Prime Minister Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda, among other distinguished leaders. A host of prominent celebrities, including Megastar Chiranjeevi, Superstar Rajnikanth, Ram Charan, Jr. N TR, Allu Arjun, and M Mohan Babu, are also expected to attend the event.

Cabinet Selection: A Delicate Balance

Naidu has been engaged in extensive discussions with senior TDP leaders to ensure that the Cabinet composition reflects a balanced representation of various regions and social groups. Given the party's overwhelming victory in the elections, securing 164 out of 175 Assembly seats, the competition for Cabinet berths is fierce. The selection process is particularly challenging due to the limit of 25 legislators that can be accommodated in the Cabinet.

Consultations and Finalization

Naidu is expected to consult with alliance partners JSP and BJP regarding the distribution of ministerial berths before finalizing the list. He will likely meet with JSP chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders to discuss Cabinet formation. The inclusion of Nara Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan in the Cabinet is anticipated, with intense competition for the remaining 23 vacancies among the MLAs.

Regional and Social Considerations

The selection process is said to be influenced by regional and social considerations. Speculations suggest that TDP State president K Atchannaidu may not secure a Cabinet position, as his nephew K Ram Mohan Naidu has been appointed to a position in the Central Cabinet. From Srikakulam, Koona Ravi Kumar, who won against former Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram from Amadalavalasa and is from the dominant Kalinga community, is likely to be inducted into the Cabinet.

Youth and First-Timers in the Cabinet

Several first-time MLAs are optimistic about securing Cabinet positions, believing that the TDP will prioritize youth representation. The party is expected to give due consideration to these aspirants , reflecting a commitment to rejuvenating the state's political landscape.

Oath-Taking Ceremony Preparations

In addition to Cabinet formation, Naidu has been overseeing the preparations for his oath-taking ceremony, ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the significant event.

The cabinet features representation from various social groups, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Muslim Minority, and several Backward Castes (BC).
