Man throws sanitizer on girlfriend's face and burns her for shocking reason

In a horrifying incident, a 22-year-old girl was burnt by her boyfriend using a lighter after he threw sanitizer over her face. He apparently did so as the girl wouldn't lend him Rs. 2000 which he demanded from her.

The incident has been reported from Chandigarh, where the accused, identified as Naresh, demanded a sum of Rs. 2000 from the girl, who denied it. Infuriated over her refusal to provide him with the money, Naresh threw sanitizer over her face and burnt her with a lighter. The neighbours, who heard the girl's scream, rushed her to a local hospital for treatment. She has reportedly suffered 20 percent burns. The girl, who is originally from Shillong, relocated to Chandigarh and had been in a live-in relationship with Naresh for over eight months. After being discharged from the hospital, the girl has registered a complaint against Naresh, claiming that he often harassed her over money issues.

A case was reportedly registered against the accused under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
