The legendary writer Gudipati Venkatachalam, mostly referred to as Chalam in popular circles, has long been a forgotten literary giant. He died at age of 84 in the year 1979. The novel 'Doshagunam' was even adapted into a film by Mohankrishna Indraganti, as 'Grahanam'.

The 'samadhi' of such a celebrated novelist-philosopher is lying in a dilapidated state. The same has been highlighted by CVL Narasimha Rao, the Telugu character artiste.

"With great difficulty found out Chalam 'samadhi' in this condition at Thiruvannamalai," he has said, feeling sorry for the state of affairs.
