National Crush Rashmika Mandanna was deeply disturbed when her photo was maliciously manipulated, and a video was circulated on social media, depicting her in a vulnerable and invasive situation as she emerged from a bathroom. This distressing video was originally owned by Zara Patel, a British Indian influencer with a considerable online following.
Initially, Rashmika chose to maintain a stoic silence in the face of this invasion of her privacy. However, when Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan publicly called for legal action, she decided to open up about her feelings and fears. Rashmika bravely spoke out about the critical issue of cyber security for women.
In response to her ordeal, Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the Modi government's unwavering commitment to women's security. Even Telangana Chief Minister KCR's daughter, MLC Kavitha, came forward to strongly support Rashmika's cause and advocate for stringent action against those responsible.
Support for Rashmika continued to pour in from various quarters. Notable figures like Naga Chaitanya and Mrunal Thakur expressed their solidarity with Rashmika and echoed the call for decisive action.
Mrunal Thakur conveyed her support through an Instagram Stories post, stating, Shame on people who engage in such reprehensible acts; it reveals a concerning lack of conscience in such individuals. Thank you, @rashmika_mandanna, for addressing this issue that many of us have witnessed but too often remained silent about. Every day, morphed and edited videos of female actors circulate on the internet, focusing on inappropriate body parts. Where are we headed as a community and society? We may be actresses in the 'limelight,' but, ultimately, we are all human. It's time to break the silence.
Naga Chaitanya responded to Rashmika's tweet with a heartfelt message, expressing his concern about the misuse of technology and the potential for further distressing developments. He called for the enforcement of laws to protect victims and offered his support, to which Rashmika expressed her gratitude.
Renowned advocate for women's rights, Chinmayee Sripada, drew attention to the pervasive issue of deepfakes in society. She highlighted how these deepfake videos can be used to exploit, harass, and blackmail girls and women, particularly in areas where notions of honor and reputation carry great significance. She also underscored the need for a nationwide awareness campaign to educate the public about the dangers of deepfakes and encourage reporting of such incidents.
Rashmika Mandanna expressed her appreciation to Chinmayee for raising awareness about this critical issue and hoped that strict measures and guidelines would be implemented.
Sai Dharam Tej, too, voiced his anger and concern, denouncing the disturbing and distressing misuse of advanced technology. He stressed the importance of awareness and the need for stringent laws to address this issue, recognizing the potential mental anguish such technology could inflict on ordinary individuals.
The outpouring of support and calls for action demonstrate a collective determination to combat the growing threat of cyberbullying and deepfake technology.
