Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman, who is well known among global audience with his iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero role of Black Panther/ T'Challa has died of cancer, as per an official announcement from his family.
The 43-year-old died at his home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side. The actor had been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, and even as he was battling cancer, Boseman never spoke publicly about his diagnosis.
The statement from the family read "A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more - all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther." Boseman has played some iconic real life roles like baseball legend Jackie Robinson in 42 and musician James Brown in Get on Up.His Black Panther, the blockbuster released in 2018 was the first superhero film to get a nomination for best picture at the Oscars.
