With States like West Bengal announcing that they won't allow the implementation of the new citizenship law, sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs have been quoted as saying by ANI that the implementation of the Act will be done by the Centre. "We will finalise who all will be involved in implementation. It will be digital and an easy process so that people don't face any problem," the MHA sources said.
"We have brought in the Bill after holding consultations and discussions. Protestors have the right to go to court and people have the right to protest too. Those who want to give suggestions can give. We are in the process of framing the rules," the MHA said.
What about the implementation of a nation-wide National Register of Citizens (NRC), something that has sparked fears in the minority community? "It is premature to say anything right now on NRC," they said.
