Union Labour & Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has stated that the Centre would be generating millions of employment opportunities in the months to come. “We would continue to explore more and more avenues in this regard,” he said.
“Centre’s Mudra Yojana and highways construction infrastructure would play a major role in generating such opportunities,” Gangwar said while taking part in the 65th anniversary celebrations of the Employees’ Provident Fund Commission (EFPC) held in New Delhi yesterday. “Nobody should doubt the BJP-led Centre’s intention in creating self-employment and new employment opportunities for the people,” he remarked.
“83,000 kilometers-long roads and highways would be constructed by the Centre in the next five years which would give employment opportunities to 32 crores. Under the Mudra Yojana scheme, Rs.4 lakh crores has been disbursed to as many as 9.5 crore entrepreneurs to start their small and medium-range businesses,” he informed.
“The EPFC, which was instituted in 1952, has undergone several changes all these years. It has benefited several lakhs former and current employees and is presently managing the savings of 4.5 crore employees. The Commission has been working excellently via online by registering details of new employees, managing their accounts, perusing their requests to get their money back,” lauded Gangwar, who took over the Ministry in September from Bandaru Dattatreya during a cabinet re-shuffle.
