Centre says migrants, students, tourists can return home

The Centre on Wednesday issued new guidelines on the inter-state movement of people in lockdown times. Migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, and students who are stuck can return home. State governments will arrange their inter-state travel, the government said.

Here are the key highlights of its advisory:

All states should designate nodal authorities and develop standard protocols for receiving and sending such stranded persons.

The moving persons shall be screened and those found asymptomatic would be allowed to proceed.

Buses shall be used to transport groups of persons. They will be sanitized and safe social distancing norms shall be adhered to.

On arrival at the destination, such persons would be assessed by the local health authorities, and kept in home quarantine unless the assessment requires keeping the persons in institutional quarantine.
