Centre did no good to the State for four years, Tirunavukkarasar says

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Tirunavukkarasar has said that the BJP-led Centre has done nothing of note for Tamil Nadu’s welfare during its past four years in office from 2014-18.

Criticizing the Union budget presented in Parliament on Thursday by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Tirunavukkarasar was at his satirical best in describing the Centre’s repeated attempts to neglect and overlook the State’s interests.

“Industrial growth has been severely dented in the State because of Centre’s neglect,” he said and added that Railways haven’t progressed as predicted as the BJP had done away with the presentation of a separate ‘Rail budget’ and had clubbed the same with the general budget.  “Farmers have been facing disappointment from the Centre which has done nothing to address their various needs and grievances,” he continued.

“Budget for 2018-19 is a populist budget prepared with the impending Assembly polls in various States to be held later this year. Tirunavukkarasar also expressed his surprise about the Centre’s announcement to set up 600 Airports in a year.  “I don’t think it is possible in practical terms,” he added.
