Earlier today, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting directed all States and Union Territories to allow "operational continuity" of print and electronic media journalists in view of the curfew/lockdown across the country. This came after several reports spoke of how many journalists faced hurdles imposed by policemen in terms of free movement.
The Chief Secretary of Telangana has directed the DGP to allow scribes to move freely if they show authentic ID cards.
With sections of media speaking up against the roughing up of scribes by Hyderabad police on Monday night, KT Rama Rao made a timely request to the police. "Have received several complaints about police not allowing personnel involved in essential services to move about; I have requested both Home Minister Mahmood Ali Saab and the Telangana DGP to issue clear instructions in this regard. These are testing times guys. Please cooperate," the Minister tweeted out.
