The Union Home Ministry has issued a diktat to all States and Union Territories asking the respective Governments to ensure that chief-ministers of these States make it a point to inform other States about their visits and not to undertake visits without providing advance intimation to other States about their visit.

“All Chief-Ministers are under the Z-Plus security cover provided by the Centre. Whenever the chief-ministers visit other States, it becomes the responsibility of the Govt. of the State they visit to take care of their security. Thus, it is now made mandatory for chief-ministers to inform other State Governments in advance about their proposed visit to these States.

“Only this (providing advance information) can ensure provision of proper security and accommodation by the State which the chief-minister(s) are visiting. Chief-ministers’ security can hardly be compromised. This shouldn’t lead to any embarrassing situation either. Thus, it is the responsibility of concerned chief-secretaries to inform in advance to other States about their chief-minister’s visit,” the communiqué said.
