Just two days away from its release, “Family Star” had been garnering moderate buzz until the pre-release event reshaped perceptions. The makers emphasized that a family-friendly film was on its way, one that would appeal to audiences of all ages.
However, a surprising turn of events unfolded during the film’s censorship process in Hyderabad yesterday, resulting in a U/A certificate. The runtime of "Family Star" is 163 minutes, a crisp 2 hours and 43 minutes. The censor report is also said to be positive. The theatrical rights of the film are valued at over 45 crores, with digital rights secured by leading OTT Giant, Amazon Prime Video.
Despite being marketed as a clean family drama, “Family Star” contained several curse words that had to be muted by the censor officials. Words such as “fk,” “la,” “m****a,” and others were used in various scenes throughout the film. Interestingly, these swear words appeared primarily in scenes set against the backdrop of the US.
The revelation has come as a surprise, given that Dil Raju’s films are typically known for their clean content. The excessive use of curse words has shocked many, and the censor certificate featuring them has since gone viral on social media.
Starring Vijay Devarakonda and Mrunal Thakur as the lead actors, “Family Star” is directed by Parasuram, with music composed by Gopi Sundar. Additionally, there are reports of Rashmika making a small cameo appearance in the film.
"Family Star" boasts a stellar ensemble cast, featuring renowned actors like Abhinaya, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi, and Ravi Babu. Produced by the prestigious Sri Venkateswara Creations banner, the film promises to captivate audiences across languages, releasing in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Further elevating the cinematic experience is the musical genius of composer Hesham Abdul Wahab, whose score is sure to enhance the film's emotional impact.
