Amid the ongoing protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), all private and government schools in north east Delhi will remain closed on Wednesday, upon the request of the Directorate of Education to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The board has confirmed that the examinations that were supposed to happen today for Class 10 and Class 12 have been postponed to a later date. "On the request of Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi and to avoid inconvenience to students, staffs and parents, the Board has decided to postpone Class 10 and 12 exams scheduled for February 26 in north east part of Delhi," the board mentioned in a statement.
The notice further added, "On Wednesday, English paper for Class X and web application/media for Class XII was scheduled at 86 centres in northeast Delhi, including government and private schools. The next date of the exam will be notified shortly."
The death toll after two days of violence has risen to 20 and over 189 people are injured. Mobs had been pelting stones and vandalizing private as well as public properties. The riot started right before US President Donald Trump arrived in the national capital. Police personnel had to fire tear gas shells and indulge in lathicharge in Maujpur and several other areas in north east Delhi as protests erupted between the pro- and anti-CAA groups.
