In a deplorable case, Rambhawan, an Uttar Pradesh-based junior engineer working in a sarkari department, has been arrested by the CBI for allegedly preying upon 50 children over the last 10 years. The accused has been found to have trapped children from the age of 5 to 16 years by luring them with electronic devices.
He would sexually exploit them, film the act and sell a huge quantity of videos to paedophiles in other countries. A cachet of emails have been recovered and an investigation has been launched.
Raiding his house in Chitrakoot while arresting him, the CBI seized reportedly seized more than half a dozen mobile phones. About Rs 8 lakh in cash was also found. Besides electronic devices, there were a lot of sex toys in his house.
The case only proves that the Internet and availability of technology enable predators to connect with perverts and criminals globally. It's because of the sophistication facilitated by technology that a number of offenders have been escaping the long arm of the law.
