The new chief of the Central Board of Film Certification, Prasoon Joshi, is a no-nonsense performer it seems. The lyricist-entrepreneur, who took over the reins last month, wants to make it easy for filmmakers. He wants to rationalise the process of certification to the benefit of one and all.
This resolve comes as a good news for the film fraternity, sections of which were aghast at the arbitrary manner in which the ousted chief Pahlaj Nihalani would suffer film after film.
The intent to take steps that will benefit the industry members was taken at a meeting held on Sept 11. The meet was attended by the new Board members, including our own Jeevitha Rajsekhar and the yesteryear Tamil actress Gautami.
Prasoon was recently in the news when it was wrongly reported that he had struck down a Punjabi film that "glorified terrorism". The decision to ban it was actually taken up by the previous board.
