Cauvery Board issue can’t be resolved via social networking sites, says CM

Tamil Nadu chief-minister Edapadi K. Palaniswami has commented that the issue of setting up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) by the Centre can’t be resolved over social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, etc.  “It ought to be resolved in a peaceful, legal manner and not on social networking sites,” the chief-minister has remarked.

Speaking to newsmen at Coimbatore Airport, the chief-minister backed his Ministerial colleague Thangamani when he said that former chief-secretary Rammohan Rao was making wild statements with respect to the treatment given to former chief-minister J. Jayalalitha at the Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.  Jayalalithaa remained hospitalized for 75 days after which Apollo declared her as ‘dead’ on the night of 05th December, 2016.

“Rao has been making such statements apparently to make somebody else (read: Sasikala) escape the blame in the case,” he said.  On another issue, he said that the AIADMK took steps way back in 2011 itself to close down the environmentally dangerous Sterlite Industries.  “We have now denied renewal of license to operate to Sterlite which means it would close down obviously,” he said.

“CMB issue is something which can’t be resolved by indulging in debates and discussions on social networking sites such as Whatsapp, Twitter, Facebook, Skype, etc.  “We recently petitioned the Prime Minister to consider setting up the CMB at once so as to resolve the Cauvery river water row with Karnataka once for all,” he said.
