Twitter has issued a cautionary note to the tweeples out there. With malware, etc on the rise, it has asked its users to be on the guard while using the Direct Messages section.
"Be cautious when clicking links in Direct Messages. Make sure to report the message if you sense unusual behavior or are redirected to enter your Twitter password. 1. Tap the information icon. 2. Select Report. 3. Confirm your choice," it has said, presenting a 3-step process to stay safe.
In August, Twitter introduced special features to make the DM section free from confusion or inconvenience. It divided Twitter's DM segment into two sections: Inbox, with messages from people you follow; and Requests, for messages from people you don’t follow. "Requests are now filtered, so it's easier to see those useful messages," the company said.
