Catch KV Anand in San Jose

He’s the slickest we’ve got in Kollywood in recent times. After a stylish film like ‘Kana Kandaen’, KV Anand has wowed everybody with his high style quotient in ‘Ayan’ again. The film, starring Suriya and Tamannah, is a runaway hit, and has become the biggest success this summer.

Director KV Anand, who debuted as a director with ‘Kana Kandaen’, starring Srikanth, Gopika and Prithviraj, is also an acclaimed cinematographer. It is largely his experience behind the lens that is responsible for the exclusive colour tones and cinematography that we appreciate in his movies. He bagged the National Award for the best Cinematographer for his first ever film, ‘Thenmaavin Kombathu’ in 1995, apart from one in ‘Mudhalvan’.

The film too, like Suriya’s ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, has taken a big opening abroad, and had nine prints released in USA. Says a distributor, “I’ve distributed four of Suriya’s movies so far: Aaru, Sillunnu Oru Kadhal, Vel and Ayan, and Ayan has been the most successful, on par with the success that ‘Dasavathaaram’ and ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ got. The audience simply loves the film and the lead pair. KV Anand, the director, has put efforts into both direction and cinematographer and the result shows. I’m grateful to Ayngaran International for giving me this opportunity.”

The director is on a whirlwind trip to San Jose, where he will be watching his film at IMC6 on April 18 at 4.30 pm and 8 pm. If you’re in San Jose, catch up on ‘Ayan’ in the theatres today with its creator.
