Casting couch is irrelevant to Mahanati: Makers

Amidst buzz that Savitri had faced unsavoury situations in the film industry when she wanted to become an artist, the makers of her biopic make it clear that casting couch is irrelevant to her life story.

Talking to a national daily, Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt say that 'Mahanati' is for those who want to know about Savitri without a "prejudiced mindset".

There are also rumours that Vyjayanthi Movies had to pay the late actress' daughter Vijaya Chamundeshwari some royalty.  However, as per the film's producers, they had to do no such thing.

The biopic will hit the screens on May 9 in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.  It's directed by Nag Ashwin.
