Kollywood director Pa Ranjith recently launched a cultural space named Neelam Cultural Centre and a social initiative named Neelam Social to fight for Dalit rights. The latter offers YouTube content, mostly long-form. And now, the 'Kabali' director has floated Neelam Books, a bookstore and a cultural space, located in Chennai.
The news is that Kamal Haasan today attended the launch of the bookstore. Speaking on the occasion, the 'Vikram' star described caste as his biggest political rival. Adding that caste is a terrible weapon that the likes of Dr BR Ambedkar fought, the versatile actor added that his aim is similar to that of Ranjith.
Kamal's presence at Neelam Books comes at a time when it is strongly speculated that Ranjith will be wielding the megaphone for a movie starring him as the hero.
Kamal recently participated in the Congress party's prestigious Bharat Jodo Yatra. The 'Vishwaroopam' actor even had a chit-chat with Rahul Gandhi on the sidelines of the Yatra. On the film front, Kamal is doing both 'Indian 2' and 'KH234'. The latter is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Red Giant Movies along with Madras Talkies and RKFI. Kollywood filmmaker H Vinoth will be helming 'KH233' in all probability.
