It's known that Manchu Manoj has of late been urging people to get rid of casteist mindset in public forums as well as on social media. When asked if there is a specific reason why he has particularly been emphasizing on such social matters of late, Manoj has said that he is sick of caste consciousness still being alive in this day and age among youngsters and that caste is omnipresent - be it in the media, film industry, or politics.

Looks like Manoj found it topical in the context of an element in his film Shourya. In this Dasaradh-directed film, Manoj's character falls in love with Nethra (played by Regina). Nethra's father, played by Nagineedu, is against their marriage because their inter-caste marriage could upset his political ambitions when he contests for an MP seat.

Although the story doesn't have much to do with caste per se, the role of caste in politics and how the politicisation of caste influences decisions regarding a daughter's marriage, are not lost sight of.

To be sure, Manoj did the right thing by advising people to stay away from caste and drugs!
