It's known that a casino case concerning Chikoti Praveen Kumar and Madhav Reddy has been widely talked about since the recent raids by the Enforcement Directorate on properties connected to the duo. As per reports, the duo is suspected to have committed violations of the foreign exchange laws.
Praveen Kumar is said to have roped in several actresses and celebs to attract punters to do legal punting in casinos in Nepal and Thailand, among other countries. ED suspects that Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat was paid Rs 1 Cr. On the other hand, Eesha Rebba was paid a fee of Rs 40 lakh, it is alleged. Rs 20 lakh allegedly went to choreographer Ganesh Acharya, while another Rs 15 lakh was paid to Mumaith Khan. The names of Amisha Patel, Nora Fatehi, and Dimple Hayathi have also been mentioned in media reports.
The above celebs were allegedly paid to do promotional videos, reports say. Some payments have come under the ED's scanner, as the agency suspects that hawala money was transferred to India through the casino events. "As many as 10 actors attended a casino event in Hotel Mechi Crown, in Jhapa of Nepal, among others," a report by DC says.
The names of more than 16 MLAs, some of whom are politically strong, belonging to various political parties in different Indian states are also said to be on the ED's radar.
