Kavitha, K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter and a Telangana Jagruthi leader, was slapped with criminal cases by the Banjara Hills police for making inflammatory statements against the makers of Adhurs. The TRS leader has threatened to take on the film and stop its screening, on the pretext that it is made by those who hail from the Andhra region.

IPC Section 506, which deals with cases relating to criminal intimidation, was slapped against Kavitha. The police registered the case suo motu.

Adhurs, released on the 13th, has not seen much trouble in the Telangana region. However, there were some incidents of violence against it, which was insignificant. There were apprehensions before its release that the film might have to face many security threats, but nothing of the sort never happened.
