Dancer-turned-actor Vineeth filed a case against a group that made fake calls in his name to female dancers through Whatsapp offering job opportunities. The scam was reportedly carried out through a Whatsapp number registered in the US.

The actor came to know about the scam after one of his close friends informed him that he received a whatsapp call in exactly Vineeth's voice. Soon Vineeth lodged a complaint with the DGP and it is said to have been forwarded to the Hi-Tech Cell.

Meanwhile, the actor also alerted the public about the scam on his social media handle along with the screenshot of the Whatsapp number. "This to inform everyone there is a fraudulent number from abroad impersonating me and contacting people. Please do not respond or attend such dubious contacts," he wrote.

It is said that fraudsters based in Rajasthan and Haryana are likely to be behind these high profile cyber scam. More updates are awaited.
