Vijay Gopal, an anti-corruption activist from a Hyderabad-based NGO, has filed a case against the e-ticket booking platform BookMyShow, a theatre and the Income Tax department for a "fraud".

As per him, BMS charges 14-16 percent as Internet Handling Fee from customers. As per the rule book, this has to be taken "as a cut from the concerned multiplex or theatre". "Neither the Government nor the Reserve Bank of India has authorized this," he says.

Tweeting out, Vijay Gopal writes, "I am glad to share that a case has been filed in the Hyderabad Consumer Court-3 against BookMyshow, PVR and the IT Dept.

If GOI or shifting the operating cost of the theatre to the consumers calling it Internet Handling Fee. Justice will be served soon like sizzlers (sic)."
