Veteran film producer and DMDK president Vijayakanth's close friend for decades, Ibrahim Rowther, on Tuesday called on AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and enrolled himself in the ruling party.

Noted actress Kuyili too met Jayalalithaa at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai on Tuesday and became a member of the party. Welcoming them into the AIADMK, Jayalalithaa said they had a bright future in her party.

Rowther produced many of Vijayakanth’s films. In fact, he was the one producer who made most number of the 'Captain' movies. Though Vijayakanth and Rowther have been estranged for a while, the producer’s move is said to be a loss to the actor-politician.

This comes just a week after Jayalalithaa and Vijayakanth had an unpleasant exchange in the Assembly.
