Vijayakanth is a legendary actor-politician who is hailed as 'Captain' by the fans and people. The shocking news is that he passed away this morning in Chennai at the age of 71. We all know that Vijayakanth was hospitalised at the beginning of this month.

Reportedly, Captain Vijayakanth was rushed to the MIOT International Hospital in Chennai last night. DMDK's social media handle put out an official statement saying that Captain tested positive for COVID and was on ventilator support due to a breathing struggle. The hospital officials officially announced his death after 08:45 AM this morning.

Vijayakanth appeared in more than 100 films in his career spanning more than 30 years. He then founded his political party DMDK and was an opposition party leader of Tamil Nadu for five years. Captain was known for his kind-hearted nature, philanthropy and guts. Celebrities, politicians and people are mourning his death now.
