Renowned Tamil actor and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder, Vijayakanth, affectionately known as Captain, has triumphed over his recent health setback and has been discharged from MIOT Hospital, where he received treatment for severe cold and cough symptoms.

MIOT Hospital's official statement, now widely circulated on social media, confirms Vijayakanth's complete recovery and return home. A statement on November 30 initially conveyed concern, stating a need for additional pulmonary treatment and a 14-day hospitalization. However, the latest update brings relief, indicating his full recovery after a brief critical period.

‘Captain’ Vijayakanth, a significant figure in Tamil Nadu politics, secured an MLA seat with an 8 percent vote share in the 2006 Assembly elections and served as Leader of the Opposition from 2011 to 2016. His recent health challenges impacted both his political involvement and his party's standing in the state, with his wife, Premalatha, shouldering the party's responsibilities.

The DMDK said this in an official statement on Monday, “We are happy to inform everyone that DMDK President Vijayakanth is fully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital today morning (11.12.2023) and he has returned home.”
