A welcome decision has been taken by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) to reduce the prices of anti-cancer drugs.
The body recently released a memorandum ruling that 9 anti-cancer drugs have been brought under its price control framework. As a consequence, the retail prices of the drugs have come down by up to 87 percent. This is phenomenal.
"The trade margin of the 9 drugs has been capped at 30 percent," the order says.
The Centre has been taking steps to "curb profiteering" on vital drugs sold in India.
A report says that the decisions taken by the Government will benefit 22 lakh cancer patients in India.
