Yogi Babu started his career as an extra and by his sheer hard work has now claimed the number one spot in the comedy department in Tamil cinema.  Apart from starring in almost every film under production as a comedian he is also doing a couple of films as the main lead.  'Gurkha' is one such film in which Yogi Babu plays the lead role along with a dog.

'Gurkha' director Sam Anton has zeroed in on Canadian model Elysse to portray the character of an Ambassador and she is the sole female lead in the film. Elysse has reportedly done a cameo role in Thalapathy Vijay's 'Sarkar'.  However she is not paired opposite Yogi Babu according to the team.  4 Monkeys Productions is bankrolling the film which has Krishnan Vasanth as cinematographer and Antony L Rubens taking care of the editing.
