Developed countries such as the US and Canada are known to dump their toxic plastic wastes into the third world countries who have now opened up to the fact and are retaliating in recent times. The Cambodian harbour authorities were shocked to find 83 containers weighing 1600 tonnes of plastic wastes and have started an investigation to ascertain the local companies involved in the importation.
The Cambodian federal government has decided to send back the shipments back to the origins which are the United States and Canada. For several decades Asia has been dumping ground of electronic, plastic and other toxic wastes and following China, Malaysia, Phillipines and other countries have recently started taking measures to stop it.
