A well-attended meet held by the fans of Superstar Rajinikanth in Vellore district on Sunday saw some curious incidents.
First, the police hesitated to give the permission to the event citing various reasons. However the organizers managed to get the 'go ahead' signal from the police just a few hours ahead of the event.
The event started at 3 p.m. with music and dance. Then some fan club members and Rajini loyalists addressed the gathering. Bala Namachi, the President of Rajini Fan club association spoke about the star's political entry, saying it has been a long-time expectation of his fans. The police personnel who were drafted there asked him not to speak anything about politics. But the fan did not stop. At this, a cop forced him to cut short his speech.
Actor and Nadigar Sangam Vice President Karunas who participated in the event as one of the chief guests also said that he was waiting for the day when the Superstar will announce his entry into politics. He too was reportedly warned by the police officials to not speak about politics and was asked to sign off.
This organizers as well as the members of the crowd criticized the police action of controlling what was being spoken in a meeting conducted with the necessary permission.
