Cafeterias made of Scrap Material at Delhi Airport
Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Four cafeterias in the Delhi Airport have been constructed using materials such as recycled metal and plastic, building scrap and machine parts. The lights, seating, tables, and ceiling have incorporated such materials which were available due to the renovation of two terminals in the airport.
A spokesperson from the airport has said that: "Furniture has also been built out of scrap and reusable fabric. We have also reused concrete leftover boards to cover the exposed wires and surfaces of the walls. Lampshades put in the cafeterias are also made from recycled material. As the airport expansion works are underway, we expect to process massive quantities of waste or refurbished materials and use those creatively to build several such facilities."
Be sure to check out these innovative cafes when you have a flight from or to the Delhi airport at the T-3 basement, in the third level of Terminal-3 (T-3), near the parking bay and near the arrival area of the Terminal-2 (T-2).
Such initiatives show that it is possible to manage waste in a more efficient manner. While this may be on a large scale, it also suggests that small steps at home every day can also help the environment.
