Yesterday, it was reported that Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddhartha went missing since Monday night. VG went to Mangalore on Monday night in his car driven by his driver. He asked his driver to stop near a bridge, got down and went for a "walk".
Turns out that VG committed suicide on Monday night. The Mangalore police today discovered his dead body 9 km from the Netravati river's bridge. It took more than 24 hours for police forces, Coast Guard and the NDRF to trace his body.
Financial troubles, harassment by Income Tax department, and pressure from a private equity partner were cited as reasons for VG's depression.
"I did not know him & have no knowledge of his financial circumstances. I only know that entrepreneurs must not allow business failure to destroy their self-esteem. That will bring about the death of entrepreneurship," commented Anand Mahindra, the industrialist.
