The body of Cafe Coffee Day owner VG Siddhartha was recovered by a group of fishermen from the Netravati river which is at a considerable distance from the bridge where he was seen last. Siddhartha went missing on Monday from the bridge over Netravati River, and a fisherman said had said that he had seen someone jump into the river.
Siddhartha went missing at 6:30 PM on Monday, and his body was found 6:30 am today. As per the statement of Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Sasikanth Senthil, the body recovered appears to be of Cafe Coffee Day owner VG Siddhartha.The body was taken to a hospital and cops are waiting for Siddhartha's family to confirm identity.Earlier, the dog squad had caught a whiff of Siddhartha on the bridge, which raised the suspicion that he had committed suicide.
Siddhartha left from Bengaluru to Sakleshpur on Monday afternoon but instructed his driver to travel via Mangaluru and as per the driver Basavraj Patel's statement,Siddhartha had told he'll go for a walk near the bridge and asked him to wait, but never returned.Following the news of his disappearance on Monday morning, a letter written by Siddhartha, addressed to the CCD Board was released.Siddhartha had written that he had failed as an entrepreneur and was struggling to cope up, and had also alleged harassment by the previous DG of the Income Tax Department in this letter.
