P Viswaprasad, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad, has today said that no police permission has been given to hold outdoor rallies/protests against the new citizenship law. The Left parties and student unions had applied for permission. However, the applications were rejected.
Earlier today, 80 students of the University of Hyderabad were detained to prevent them from holding outdoor protests.
A rally was planned to be taken by Left protesters from Charminar. With no police permission, it can't happen now. UoH, Osmania University, and the EFLU had planned a protest march at the exhibition grounds and the public gardens.
It may be noted that Bengaluru too is under Section 144 for the next three days.
